Administrators with advanced knowledge of SQL can create queries that are bound as read-only auxiliary tables (views) in the SBM database, which users can access to create advanced reports. Now follo...wing field types are possible only: text text-memo user number date datetime project selection relational multi-relational The customers need to use Binary and Multi-User fields in Advanced Report (XML file) too.   Why Binary and Multi-User field types are not available? Standard Distribution Reports support multi-relational fields in the “Group Row by”, but these fields do not appear in the Advanced Distribution Reports. This is an enhancement request to please add s...upport row grouping for Mult-Relational Fields in Advanced Distribution Reports.    We do not see this ability in 10.1.5.2 but please let us know if it's available in 11.x More

Although file and URL attachments are adequate for some attachments, at times the process would be much better if these could be tracked more like a field. This would allow for different types of file...s or URLs to be required on specified transitions and included in reports. The column in the db might just be an id that points to the attachment table, but having "field" type flexibility for these would be very beneficial to lots of processing. You could track any number of particular type of attachments, for instance maybe you need a Requirements document attached at one part of the workflow and a Design document attached at another part. Maybe there could be an option when you add the field to also show them within the attachments section (probably as read-only). More

There are times when I think having an option to enforce uniqueness on a SBM field would be helpful. The intention would be to prevent the user (and the tool during promotions) from creating multiple ...records where a chosen column/field had duplicate values. For users, maybe a field represents a remote system's reference ID in a scenario where you expect a one-to-one relationship to be enforced. Or maybe just help avoid a user creating two of any one thing (like Companies, etc). For systems where aux data is synced between two environments, if processes aren't followed and a new row is added to both environments and then later a promotion occurs, you get duplicate data - having a option to enforce a constraint would help to avert a complicated cleanup. Uncertain on Matthew's issue, but I know for us it would be ideal if Pulse would display branches for Projects like it does for streams. We currently create new projects off of baselines, but none of... this is visible in the changeset graph in CM 14.1.0.4. Uncertain if other functionality like Project merges are supported, it isn't something we commonly do. More

If there is a possibility one of your users may GET a file, edit it, and DELIVER it from a different directory, this idea applies to you. The end user and the administrators(myself) should not have to... guess at what an error message means. The error message below appears when a user tries to "Deliver" edited files from a directory without CM metadata (a non cm work area) in CM 14.1.0.4b: "Error in Upload FileRequest: Rename fromD:ServersTomcatworkCatalinalocalhostdimensions6nfgys8795.dirja32342.tmp toD:ServersTomcatworkCatalinalocalhostdimensions6nfgys8795.dirUPLJHA Integration - SITRelease 2.0SRS_01099.docx was not successful Using Project 'JHA:TEST AND EVALUATION'.Using 'D:ServersTomcatworkCatalinalocalhostdimensions6nfgys8795.dirUPL' as the Project work ara.....COR0006418E Error: File .... SRS_01099.docx does not exist" It is not a really helpful error message and took a few weeks before I and Serena support could figure out what the error meant. That error is generated when a user tries to deliver a file edit to CM from a non CM work-area location. Dimensions CM does NOT recognize a file as an updated/edited file unless there exists associated .dm metadata files. Okay, fair enough... but at least give the end user a helpful message, instead of telling them Tomcat can't find a file. How about:"There are files that exist with the same name as the files you are delivering. Dimensions CM is unable to deliver the files until the files are delivered from the correct CM work area so that all applicable metadata is available for the file"That's a start. Sure, the user who delivers from outside a CM work-area has a training issue, but Dimensions CM could also do better error reporting to help us admins out. If you think there is a possibility a user may GET a file out of CM, edit it, move it to another location on their machine... and then try to DELIVER that edited file from that other location, this idea would benefit your users. if there are multiple admins, it is difficult to determine who change permissions for a user or group.
