Globally administer/update home page reports Hot

by Danny Lee on September 24, 2015

The ability to globally set and change the home page report, for all users or a by group, would be very helpful. Running SQL updates against the db is an option, but its not ideal.  Having new end users set this themselves, doesn't help in the perception of ease of use.  Setting them at a user level, one at a time, is time consuming for the admin.  There's also times when an unrelated home page report, for another tab that was set for that other tab, shows up as the home page report for a tab that is new or for a tab that a user was recently granted privileges to (this may be a bug).  This ends up being really confusing for end users.

Such a feature would involve the admin being able to set a default report globally, and then change that value as a system evolves.  End users would be still able to override and set their own value, as it works today.

Although we can get around this challenge, having an easy to use feature would help in:

    • adoption of the system for new users
    • perception of ease of use (very critical with a lot of customers)
    • save a lot of time for an administrator

  • This request would address a significant pain point for me. It is difficult to administer home pages when you have several types of groups, with overlap in membership among groups.

We've put this idea under consideration for home pages / dashboards in Work Center for the 1HCY'16 release of SBM.

I agree with you on this Danny. I have a good number of apps and pushing out home pages to different groups is a real pain on initial deployment, very time consuming for a small team.
