Exportable Form Themes, Styles, and/or Templates Hot

by Curtis LaPrise on November 22, 2016

It would be useful to have exportable/reusable Form Themes that include default composer design information for forms (see description for types of design information).  I often find myself recreating form themes across process apps, as our themes are currently not based in HTML, but within composer themselves.

  • I would envision the ability to create and either export or preferably save and publish a form theme to the Application Repository.  The theme would include design information such as:

    • Theme specific default Control preferences:
      • layout type
      • label location
      • fields columns
      • field rows
      • foreground/background colors
      • Corner Radius
    • Defineable "presets" for font styles - similar to a MS Word Style
      • heading 1, 2, 3, 4
      • Body
      • etc...
    • Reusable Form Templates with custom defined form layout (Panels, group boxes, tabs, etc)

All items should have a definable style for State, Transition, and Print forms; so that different style settings can be saved for each type of form.

UI Templates within composer is an idea under consideration for 2HCY'17.

This might need to be it's own idea - I'll let the moderators respond on that:

I would also envision the ability to group items of controls such that the controls can be manipulated as a single item. (i.e. a set of nested panels - once I define them for bordering and aesthetic feel, it would be easier to manipulate them as a single item and have the property editor drop down display them as a single item to reduce the clutter.).
