Add Alert (Security) Banners to all SBM user interfaces and dialogs Hot

by Beth on May 27, 2015

Incorporate the ability for sites to configure classification banners at the top/bottom of all SBM user interface windows.

  • SBM Servers should have the capability to display server unique banners (headers/Footers) in the SBM interface. These banners will have the ability to notify users which system they are on, Development, Test, New Release, and even production. They are also useful at notifying users of specific corporate data categories such as Member Data, Competition Sensitive, Financial Records, Company confidential. They are needed immediately for US DoD systems as it is required to display the system’s classification such as Unclassified, Secret, Top Secret, etc. SBM must have the capability to be configured so that all User Interface windows, dialogs, etc. can be optionally configured with Alert Banners at the top and bottom in all displays. The banners must be outside the scrollable area and always displayed. They must be configured at least at the server level. Optional configuration by the environment and project level would be great but not required. Possible Implementation based on other Serena applications: Allow on HTML page for the Header and One for the footer. Allow standard HTML scripting to build page. Add a display parameter to limit to set the height of the banner. If the Header.HTML page exists on the server in the correct directory then the alert is displayed. The same for the Footer.HTML file and display.

  • We were able to slip this into the SBM 11.0 release early.

We were able to slip this into the SBM 11.0 release early.

In the short term, we've found a workaround for this. If you're using the User Workspace interface to SBM, here's a KB article describing how you can add headers and footers to the interface window:

We'll also put this idea Under Consideration for the 1HCY'16 release of SBM.
