ZMF Package auto-cleanup Hot

by Joseph A Blue on March 06, 2017

Would like to see an automated process where packages that are x # of days past due can be automatically cleaned up and deleted for the system

  • Applicaiotn development teams have a habit of creating test packages ad-hoc tests, etc and do not cleanup the packages when the go intto 'past due' status.

We would like to have functionality where we could pass a date parameter to an XML service and that would delete the components from the package and memo dlete the package.

  • Hi Joseph,

I created such a function. It has a number of parameters to tweak the process
The package creator is notified 4 weeks in advance that the package will be cleaned (also a parameter)
(If the creator is no longer present in the company, we base ourself on a RACF extract, we change the creator to the last actionee in the package)
Once a package has passed the criteria the process will
    a) recall all staging datasets
    b) back all staging datasets of the package
    c) delete the package
    - depending on your admin settings you'll need additional actions
    - we have decided to use XML services to remove all promotion data and then delete the components from the package

If you need more info, just let me know (you have my email address)

    best regards
