ClientPack Password management Hot

Do not store user entered password if invalid password status is returned from ZMF

  • In Client Pack (RDz/IDZ) if you perform a "Check In to ZMF..." action in the Remote Systems Explorer view prior to logging into ZMF via the Serena view, you are prompted for a password.  This password is stored internally and used for all following ZMF requests.  If the password provided is invalid it can lead to userid being revoked by host security system due to too many invalid pasword attempts.  The only way (?) to get the correct password in the Serena process is to switch to the Serena view, request Connect to the ZMF server, erase the password stored in the ZMF Logon dialog box, and enter the correct password.

If an invlid password is provided it should not be stored for other current session use and the user should be prompted for another password.

A similar action happens on the Serena view logon panel, the invalid password is stored in the Password field of the Logon dialog box, but the user sees and has the opportunity to change the password field on subsequent logon requests.
